The world’s strongest cyclone in 2013, Super typhoon
Haiyan -hits Philippines early Friday with gusts of 275kmph. According to the
reports more than 10,000 people have been killed, still people are missing and
thousands of houses have been destroyed. Many areas/cities are
still cut off from transport, communications and power.
Three days after Super Typhoon Haiyan, one of the
strongest storms in recorded history, scythed across the central Philippines,
people here are struggling to grasp the enormity of what they have lost and the
challenges they face.
The two provinces Leyte and Samar are worst affected, had
suffered massive destruction and loss of life. Thousands of survivors are still desperately waiting for
the aid effort to reach them. The storm, known as Yolanda in the Philippines, has left
devastation on a monumental scale in its wake.
