A 25 years old Venezuelan television presenter Gabriela
Isler is crowned Miss Universe 2013 in Pageant held at the Crocus City Hall in Moscow,
Russia, on Saturday, 09 November 2013. The second place goes to Miss Spain
Patricia Yurena Rodriguez and third place goes to Miss Ecuador Constanza Baez.
Venezuela has managed to keep its beauty queen industry
flourishing, despite economic problems that have worsened in recent weeks. Venezuelan
President Nicolas Maduro congratulated Isler on Twitter, calling her title a
“triumph” for Venezuela, a country that has now won three of the last six Miss
Universe pageants.
Also Venezuela has won more major international beauty
competitions than any other nation, and beauty pageants rank alongside baseball
as the country’s most-followed diversion, one that transcends social class and
normally insurmountable political divisions.
