First green tunnel in the world



The world’s first eco-friendly tunnel launched in Lyon's city centre Croix-Rousse hill, France. The tunnel under the Lyon's city Centre known as “Le Tube”. The two kilometer underground passageway for cyclists, buses and pedestrians, with sound effects and projected animations to boot and it's called the World's first green tunnel.

The project was overseen by Vinci Construction, at the total cost of €282.8 million ($386 million). The “art installation” makes the people feel that the city of Lyon’s world famous annual Festival of Lights.

The tunnel now opens to the public open between 5am to 12.30am.
