David Beckham has been named as the Stylish
Man of the Year at the 2013 GQ Men of the Year Awards held at the Komische Oper
in Berlin, Germany.
The soccer icon was feted at the
magazine's 15th annual awards on Thursday (07 Nov 13), where he was honored
for his classic style and influence in fashion at the prize giving in Berlin,
Germany.
Jose Redondo Vega, editor in chief of GQ
Germany, lauded Beckham at the ceremony, saying, "Like no other athlete,
David Beckham represents style and fashion influence. With his trendsetting and
sometimes daring appearances he has created a bridge between the world of
design, models, and photographers and the world of world class sports and
brought glamour back to a male sport."
Beckham's award comes two days after his
wife Victoria Beckham was given the Special Contribution to British Fashion
award at the Harper's Bazaar Women Of The Year Awards in London.
