The
Pantanal is the world's largest swamp and it is located in south western Brazil, with small parts of
it stretching into Bolivia and Paraguay.
The Pantanal, which
means "marshland" in Spanish, has the distinction of being the
world's largest swamp. The Pantanal is covering a surface of 150,000 square
kilometers, bigger than England. During the rainy
season (December-May), 80% of the area is flooded and here the highest variety of water plants in the world. It is already listed in the Guinness world records of 2013.
