The award winning film “A
Common Man” was screened by the Sri Lankan High Commission in South Africa. The
screening took place in Johannesburg and the movie goers had the good fortune
to meet with Chandran Rutnam- award winning director of the film.
Rutnam was in the country to promote the film
and to also promote Sri Lanka as a great film making destination.
“A Common Man” won three
awards at the Madrid International Film Festival for ‘Best Picture’, ‘Best
Director’ and ‘Best Actor’.
The Madrid International Film
Festival is an annual event held to promote cinematographic art by presenting
films of quality and entertainment and is based in the city of Madrid in Spain.
It draws attention of thousands of people from all around the world.
High Commissioner S.Ratnavale of
Sri Lanka in South Africa introduced Rutnam as a great Sri Lankan director who
Steven Spielberg once referred to as "Our most valued friend in the Far
East."
