Doctors in China removed huge hairball that occupied 70 percent of a 12 years old girl's stomach, according to Geobeats.
The girl's mother sought medical help because the girl
had been losing weight and her long hair over the past year. After undergoing
CT scans, she was found to have a nearly foot long mass according to the Chinese
reports.
Doctors performed surgery to remove the lump weighing
half a kilogram on 11th January 2014. According to hospital, the teen is
suffering from pica a rare disorder which is characterized by persistent eating
of substances that have no nutritional value.
The girl's mother said she had no idea that her daughter was eating her own
hair. "I have seen her putting hair in her mouth, but I figured she was
just playing around so I wasn't too concerned about it" she said.
