World's largest Harry Potter collection by Mexican lawyer
Menahem Asher Silva Vargas, a 37 year old lawyer, holding
title for the largest collection of Harry Potter memorabilia and it’s recognized
by Guinness World Record at his home in Mexico City on Monday, Sept. 29, 2014.
Asher Silva Vargas owns 3,097 pieces of Harry Potter
merchandise which means he is now the Guinness World Record holder of having
the biggest collection of stuff from the popular books and films, originally
written by J.K. Rowling.
The Mexican lawyer received his accolade after spending
the last 14 years collecting though he said it was never his intention to build
such a large collection. his 14 year old collection consists of more than 3000
individual items, including figurines, trading cards, wands, clothing, and
accessories.
Mr Vargas told reporters: "When I realised that my
treasures began to take up more than one room, I decided that I should take
this seriously." He also said it was his family and friends who encouraged
him to put his collection forward.
Guinness World Records officially recognized it as the
world No. 1, at 3,097 pieces. The previous record was 807 pieces.
