Fastest One-Day International century record set by AB De Villiers again West Indies
South Africa's batsman AB de Villiers hit the fastest ODI hundred in just 31 balls on Sunday 18/01/2015 against the West Indies in Johannesburg.
The 30-year-old South African captain De Villiers set the
new landmark during an innings of 149 against the West Indies in Johannesburg. He
smashed 08 fours and 11 sixes in beating the previous ODI record in 36 balls set
by New Zealand all-rounder Corey Anderson against West Indies last year 2014.
In the process, he also broke the record of fastest ODI
fifty set by Sri Lankan Sanath Jayasuriya against Pakistan in 1996, who scored
it in 18 balls. De Villiers bettered the record by a ball, scoring 50 runs in
just 16 balls.
De Villiers innings finally came to end in the last over
of the innings. He scored a magnificent 149 runs from just 44 balls, including
record-equaling 16 sixes besides 9 fours.
