Sri Lanka’s R. Tharanga wins Zurich Diamond League Javelin title

The Sri Lanka’s Rumesh Tharanga has won the Men’s Javelin Throw at the Zurich Diamond League after producing a 92.07-metre effort in his final attempt earlier Saturday.

The 23year old saved his best throw for the last round to secure another major victory in a breakthrough 2026 season. Grenada’s Anderson Peters finished second with 86.93m, while Poland’s Dawid Wegner took third with 85.16m.

Tharanga’s winning throw was also his second effort beyond 92m this season. He threw a personal best of 92.62m in Rome on June 4.
