In 2025, China produced no less than 384.3 tons of gold, which makes it the largest producer of gold on the planet. The Dexing mine (pictured), located in Shangrao in Jiangxi province, is Asia's largest open-pit gold and copper mine. It has enough mineral reserves to keep it operational until 2050.
2. Russian Federation
The second largest producer of gold in the world is the Russian Federation. In 2025, it produced 345 tons of gold. The photograph shows the immense Pokrovskiy gold mine in Russia's eastern Amur region.
3. Australia
In 2025, Australia produced 293.2 tons of gold, making it the third largest producer in the world. Pictured is the vast Fimiston open-pit mine near Kalgoorlie, Western Australia. Known as the "Super Pit," it's one of the country's largest open-pit operations.
