Rumesh Tharanga Pathirage is the World No. 1 men’s javelin thrower and is the first-ever Sri Lankan athlete to be crowned a Diamond League Champion.
He produced a sensational 89.04m throw to claim victory in the Men’s Javelin Throw at the Diamond League Finals in Brussels, Belgium.
The historic throw came on his third attempt, as Tharanga produced a remarkable performance that saw him make history for Sri Lanka and etched his name firmly on the global athletics stage.
