Lake Sorvagsvatn pictures

Sorvagsvatn is the biggest lake of the Faroe Islands. It is situated on the island of Vagar between the municipalities of Sorvags Kommuna and Miovags kommuna. The name Sorvagsvatn means ‘The lake of Sorvagur’. It covers an area of 3.4 square km and the lake is only 30m above the sea level.

The lake itself is nothing spectacular, other than being the biggest one on Faroe Islands. It’s over 6 km long. The headlands on either side of the Lake drop precipitously from heights of 252m and 376m into the North Atlantic.
