completes record swim on fifth try. The 64 year old swimmer Diana Nyad achieved her lifelong ambition of successfully
the Straits of Florida on Monday, 2nd September 2013. On her fifth attempt, Nyad, became the first person to swim the
103 miles from Cuba to Florida without a shark cage. It was a long awaited triumph for Nyad, who
was making her fifth attempt since 1978.
