The
happiest people in the world apparently reside in northern Europe, according to
156 nation survey published by the United Nations Sustainable Development Solutions
Network on 09 September 2013. Denmark, Norway, Switzerland, Netherlands and Sweden are the world's
happiest countries, according to the survey.
The survey was based
on life freedom, GDP per capita, generosity, social support, perceived corruption
and length of life. People rate both their emotions and lives as a whole.
The United States
came in at number 17 in the world in terms of overall happiness, Canada (6),
Australia (10), Israel (11), United Arab
Emirates (14) and Mexico (16) and also the report ranks the United Kingdom as
the 22nd happiest country in the world. Other major nations included
Germany (26), Japan (43), Russia (68) and China (93).
