Sri Lanka Reach Women’s Asia Cup 2026 Final

Sri Lanka Women secured a dramatic four-wicket victory over Pakistan Women in the second semi-final of the Women’s Asia Cup 2026, held at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on 11 September 2026.

After winning the toss and choosing to bowl, Sri Lanka made an excellent start with the ball, reducing Pakistan to 52/4 inside the first 10 overs. Pakistan captain Fatima Sana then led a strong recovery, scoring an unbeaten 47 off 36 deliveries. She received support from Shawal Zulfiqar, who made 24, and Gull Feroza, who scored 21, helping Pakistan reach a competitive 130/5 from their 20 overs. Chamari Athapaththu and Chamudi Praboda claimed two wickets each for Sri Lanka.

Sri Lanka’s chase got off to a disastrous start as they slipped to 33/4 in the seventh over. Pakistan’s bowlers applied significant pressure and appeared to have the defending champions in serious trouble. However, Harshitha Samarawickrama and Kavisha Dilhari produced a superb recovery, putting together a crucial 67-run partnership that completely changed the momentum of the match.

Pakistan captain Fatima Sana fought back once again, dismissing both Samarawickrama and Dilhari in the same over and finishing with impressive figures of 4/38. Despite her efforts, Sri Lanka’s lower order remained composed. Nilakshi de Silva scored an unbeaten 18 while Kaushani Nuthyangana contributed 10 not out, guiding Sri Lanka to 134/6 in 18.4 overs.

The defending champions held their nerve in a tense and closely contested encounter, successfully completing the chase with eight balls to spare to book their place in the final.

Sri Lanka will now face India Women in the final on Sunday, 13 September 2026, at 8:00 p.m. Sri Lanka time at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, as the defending champions aim to retain their Women’s Asia Cup title.
