The Qatar, Middle East gas rich country has celebrated its
national day on 18 December 2013 by breaking the Guinness World Record for the
world's largest flag. More than 2,000
workers contributed to making the flag.
The flag weighs 10 tons, 101,000sqm, a red-and-white
zigzag creation known as the “Flag of Gratitude and Loyalty,” which spans the
length of 19 football pitches. The flag weighs 10 tons and was unfurled on the
ground in the outskirts of Doha where the inauguration ceremony took place in
the presence of Quatari armed forces and a representative of Guinness World
Records.
