World’s longest traffic jam



The longest traffic jam took place in Beijing, China in 2010. It was over 60 miles long and traffic continued for 11 days.

Thousands of motorists have been caught up in a 60 mile tailback, since August 14 for 11days on the National Expressway 110 between the capital Beijing and Inner Mongolia and set the record as the world’s longest traffic jam.

The jam on the main north south motorway into Beijing has been blamed on a set of road works that is intended to alleviate congestion caused by thousands of trucks bring coal and perishable goods into the city.
