The Dubai Salik toll system, holds the record for the biggest toll system in the world, particularly in terms of open-road, multi-lane, free-flow tolling. It's also known for being the world's first 870 MHz toll system.
The Salik uses RFID and OCR technologies to identify vehicles and automatically deduct toll fees from prepaid accounts.
Also, Salik utilizes technology that allows vehicles to pass through toll gates without stopping, streamlining traffic and toll collection.
Providing a free traffic gate spanning 44m in one direction and covering 12 lanes on Sheikh Zayed Road in both directions, the toll gate system of Dubai is responsible for yet another worldwide record.
